WHITECHAPEL/STEPNEY GREEN AREA GUIDE, E1
Whitechapel is located in East London, only a stones-throw away from the City of London, our capital's financial district. For this reason, many city workers choose to live in converted warehouses/lofts in this part of town, even though it is historically linked with events like the Blitz, the Ripper murders and the Kray brothers gangland antics! As well as appealing to wealthy bankers, you'll also find many council blocks in Whitechapel, so the area displays a diverse cross-section of society. The transport links into the City and West End are brilliant, some people may even be able to walk into their workplace. Whitechapel itself doesn't offer a huge amount int erms of entertainment, but this isn't really a huge problem; if you want lovely riverside pubs you can walk to Wapping, which is also in E1. If you're interested in more of an evening scene, head to the bars and pubs in Shoreditch and if you enjoy browsing through markets, then you're in for a real treat, as you have Spitalfields, Brick Lane and Columbia Road markets in the vicinity. Location-wise the area is fantastic, but as with anything in London, it comes with quite a high price tag.
