Penge and Anerley form the compact little postcode of SE20 to the south of Crystal Palace Park in South-East London. The area is pretty much defined by Penge High Street on one side and Anerley Road on the other. It’s not the richest of areas – Penge High Street can look quite shabby but it does have it’s fair share of vital amenities such as Boots, Sainsburys and McDonalds (if that appeals!). Pubs in the area aren’t particularly young and trendy, although the Bridge House tavern at the top of Penge High Street (nearly at the park), is a really lovely pub, which is definitely worth a visit. They do cocktails, great Sunday roasts, jazz nights and seasonal parties. The positive aspects for the area of SE20 lie with the good and quick transport services into Central London and also the affordability of property in the area. You can live cheaply in Penge or Anerley, whilst making the most of neighbouring Beckenham and Crystal Palace, both of which have a lot more going on in terms of entertainment.
