The Heart Of The Countryside
This 4-star accommodation is situated in Hadley Wood amidst 35 acres of beautiful expanse known as Enfield Chase. Originally, the area was a hunting ground full of deer, but poachers were a problem, so three lodges were built for keepers to live in. One of them, West Lodge was built in the 1400s but was extensively renovated in the 19th century and became a family residence until 1924 when it was transformed into the private hotel that it is now.
Select Your Own Room
When booking directly through the West Lodge hotel site, it is possible for guests to individually select their own room from the 58 that are available. There are a wide variety to choose from, including accessible options, those that are dog-friendly and a selection of smaller doubles, classic, executive and suite sized accommodation. The majority of rooms have stunning views either of the hotel’s formal gardens, the Beale Arboretum or Enfield Chase itself.
Get Back To Nature
What sets this hotel apart from many of the prestigious hotels available in Zone 1 of the capital, are the enormous grounds that it boasts. The Beale Arboretum can be accessed free of charge to any hotel resident or guest dining in the restaurant. To the general public, it costs £2.50 to visit the grounds from 2pm-5pm Monday to Friday during April to October. 800 varieties of trees are planted here, many during the last 50 years. You may even wish to join a guided tour of the grounds to learn more about its heritage.
Leisure And Relaxation
Many guests are interested in leisure activities during their stay to help unwind on days where they’re not visiting central London. The hotel is located near to a number of golf courses, for instance Hadley Wood Golf Club which has an 18-hole 72 par golf course.
Those looking for a more holistic activity can go to an onsite yoga class at the lodge, which is suitable for beginners and offers the perfect way to recharge the mind and body during your stay.
Of course, food is a key part of any luxury hotel experience, and you’ll be pleased to hear that the Mary Beale restaurant certainly doesn’t disappoint, with Executive Chef Wayne Turner leading the culinary team. The menus are put together with ingredients sourced by local suppliers and dishes revolve on a weekly basis. You can even dine while listening to resident pianist Paul Jaffa, who has played at many other acclaimed hotels such as The Savoy and The Lanesborough.
