Celebrate The Festive Season In Your Local Area
Dance, sing and celebrate alongside your fellow Collier Row residents, whilst supporting local
businesses and charities during the Christmas period.
Christmas is coming to Essex, and if you live in and around the Collier Row area, there’s
plenty of events and activities to get you in the festive spirit. From Christmas lights being
turned on, to carol concerts and shouts of ‘he’s behind you’ at the local panto, there’s every
reason to stay local and soak up that holiday vibe. Here are some dates for your diary.
Collier Row Christmas Event – 7th December
From 4pm- 7.30pm, Havering Council will be kicking off Christmas with a bang in the town
centre, which will be supported by high street shops, the local Collier Row estate agent, and
of course the residents. Join in the festive fun until dark, but following the event you can
stick around for a Greatest Showman Tribute at City Pavilion on Collier Row Road, Romford.
Book in advance to enjoy a 4-course meal including unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks. In
terms of entertainment, you can expect live performances and a DJ until midnight.
Santa’s Grotto, Wellgate Community Farm – 16th December
This one is for the kiddies, as well as the grown-ups who wish they still believed in Father
Christmas! Head to the farm for 2.5 hours of fun which includes magic tricks, animal petting,
Christmas crafts but most importantly a pony and cart ride to Santa’s grotto where each
child will receive an appropriately aged gift presented by the man himself. When it’s time to
unwind, hot chocolate and a cookie will be served to warm those little hands up.
Rainbow Trust Romford Carol Concert – Trinity Methodist Church – 11th December
Regardless of how religious you are, nothing quite puts you in the mood for Christmas like
belting out some of your favourite classic carols. But in this case, joining the Merrylands
Primary School Choir along with The Decibellas is for a fantastic cause, as all proceeds of this
event will go towards offering support to families who have a child with a life threatening or
terminal illness. Tickets are £6 although under 5s are free. Following the singing, you can
gather round with your fellow carol-goers to enjoy a mince pie and a glass of mulled punch.
Jack And The Beanstalk – The Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch – November 28th to January 6th
There’s no need to go into the capital for a fantastic performance this Christmas. The
Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch is just a few minutes away and they’re bringing Jack and the
Beanstalk to the people of Collier Row and Romford this season. The panto is being
produced by the same team who enjoyed record-breaking success in 2017 with Beauty and
the Beast – you can expect the popular children’s story to be told alongside top of the pops
hits from throughout the decades, and the usual slapstick humour that is unmissable family
Christmas is upon us, so it’s time to get your tree up, and start booking tickets so you don’t
miss out on the most that Collier Row has to offer for Christmas 2018.
